AQI Air quality Index is jumping every day. This time it showed a growth in a negative way. The city seems in search of an oxygen mask now. AQI in Lucknow gone worse than 125 units in just 2 days, turning the city in the “very poor” category. According to Central Pollution Control Board, the air quality was 176 on Monday (18 Nov) and was noted 301 on Wednesday (20 Nov). This isn’t a good sign, is it? It is surely less than the previous records but moving this fast is dangerous for health.
Since the start of November, Lucknow’s air is bouncing. At sometime it crosses the 500-level danger and sometimes it is noted at 400. Then after the situation is going down to poor. A bit sigh of relief was felt on November 17th when the quality wen to 256 from 305 and 18th Nov was the most less polluted day with an AQI of 176.
According to Prof. Dhruvsen Singh, Director of air quality and climate monitoring cell, LU, “this drop-in temperature and humidity is going to increase pollution. By the month end AQI will again touch at 400.”
